So far, so good.

I haven't finished reading the book (because I have to learn JavaScript and XML); However, I would like to say that for a person who has little inclination for learning javascript or any other computer language, the author explains it easily. If you need to learn Javascript and InDesign and XML, I would recommend this book as it cares to explain it in a logical manner. Also, the tutorials look relevant and it makes me want to go through them and really learn them as I realize I need to use those tutorials in my workflow. I will write a follow-up after I am done.

Learning it any way I can today

This is the statement that made me buy this book..." If you want to start using JavaScript and XML to automate InDesign, and are looking for clear and concise guidance on how it all works, this book is all you will need to get up and running." As someone who works on computers and dabbles with design, how often have you wanted to take the next step and were not sure how to create it. You try to take a beginners course only to find out you needed the next step since you already figured out how to do what they just taught you. Maybe you are looking for that reading material that gives you not only the ideas but the steps in order to make it happen.
If this sounds like you then this book titled "InDesign Automation CS5 Using XML And JavaScript" by Grant Gamble may be just what you are looking for and a very good reference book to add to your library. As you have been capturing your productivity you know you can open up hours of your time if you were able to automate the program. Yet, programming language is an art form that must be learned and not everyone jumps into this with both feet. It comes gradually until you know there is no way to move forward without it. Purchase this book and read the step by step instructions on how to move forward and you can be rewarded with time.
The time you save and the tutorials you complete as you learn the techniques will be an eye opening experience and something that you will refer back to when you have questions. Learn to "to manipulate and control key elements of the InDesign object model such as documents, preferences, master spreads, pages, page items, text frames, text, graphics, fonts, styles and tables." This is something that is becoming common place for all computer users. If you are into graphics and learning new interfaces with programming language then this book will not let you down. Everyone likes to learn new things that save time and cool while you are doing it. Learn the right steps and you'll be creating web content like you have never imagined.

Working my way through this incredible source

My company is planning to base its entire product catalogue for 2012 on XML data sources and I sure needed some help. Heck, I didn't know where to begin! InDesign CSS Automation Using XML & Javascript is coming through for me fortunately. I am making my way through the excellent tutorials and my progress is steady (although I am slow). I appreciate the precept-upon-precept approach and the clear way the author communicates. I found out about it at their InDesignSecrets Internet site and I am sure glad I did.
